"A Heart of Gold"

John Paterson was my closest neighbor and a friend for the past 13 years plus. My property was backed up to his. We exchanged pet sitting when either of us was away and he was a multi talented craftsman who had done a good majority of all the improvements to my property over all those years, from building fences, add ons, remodeling baths, laying hardwood floors, tile, shelving, plumbing, electrical... all of it.

There wasn't anything he couldn't do and he did it all very efficiently.  He did beautiful work, very conscientiously. No slacker, by any means, on the contrary, he was a dynamo of energy. He could kick back too, but not nearly as often as he stayed busy. His businesses and interests were seriously pursued. There were endless possibilities.

He also loved music and was a talented drummer, sometimes singer, golfer, long distance back country bike rider, animal lover and much more. He was also a very sincere seeker of something more in life and as much as he was often lonely, sensitive and unhappy at times... most of all...

... John Paterson truly had a heart of Gold. You will be missed John. Though you've moved on, you will not be forgotten. Deep Peace to you John... deep peace...always.

Remembering John Paterson

John Paterson -- son, brother, long-time Tahoma resident, avid mountain biker, hard worker and good friend -- died unexpectedly on or around January 1, 2010.

Details are not yet known about the cause of John's demise. We will post them here once we get more information.

We miss his warmth, easy smile, and friendship. The photo above is of John at the DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay Race in June, 2009. He was on our team (Band of Outsiders), and even though he wasn't a runner, he gamely took on the challenge of running 10.5 miles and cheering his teammates on.

This page is a memorial to John. Please post your thoughts and remembrances of him. If you have photos of John that you would like to post here, or if you would like us to more prominently post your thoughts, please send them to us at patersonmemorial@gmail.com.
